Things to Do in Atlanta

Children’s Museum of Atlanta Day Camps

Mosquitos, chiggers and ticks – oh my! Camping in tents overnight can be… well, intense. This year, give your kids a break from the bugs and the heat and sign them up for a week of summer adventures at the Children’s Museum of Atlanta, where they will learn amazing science, create cool crafts, make new friends and have lots of fun. We’re offering four camps for 2014 so you can choose which session (or sessions) your child’s most interested in. Is she an aspiring biologist, an unstoppable adventure seeker, a skilled thespian, a brilliant architect or a little of each? All camps start at 8:30 am and end at 2:30 pm each day.   Aftercare is available.

Discovery Science Camp

Session 1: June 2-6 | Session 2: June 23-27

Eureka!  Calling all young scientists (ages 5 to 9) to experiment and get messy through hands-on science. Children will conduct scientific experiments and form hypotheses that will empower them to stay curious wherever they go. Our Exploration Station lets mini-medics investigate and learn about the inner workings of the human body including the sense organs, the lungs and the brain.

Adventure Camp

Session I: June 9-13 | Session 2: June 16-20

Perfect for first time campers (ages 4 to 6), Adventure Camp lets children explore the Museum’s learning zones in-depth and have memorable summer adventures!  Decorating t-shirts, harnessing creativity for arts and crafts and learning yoga are just some of the activities that campers can do.  Adventure Campers also get to play outside in our front yard, Atlanta’s Centennial Olympic Park.

Imaginator Theater Camp

Two-Week Session: June 9-13 and 16-20

Drama kings and queens from age 6 to age 9 will join the Imaginators – the Museum’s professional troupe of actors and educators – for a show-stopping theatrical camp. Children will create an original production by cooperating to create characters, write a script, hold rehearsals and put on a show for an audience.

Dream. Design. Build. Camp

One-Week Session: June 30-July 3

Do your children like boxes more than the toys that came in them? Are they always trying to build a fort or invent new uses for old things? This is certainly the camp for them. Campers will design, build and complete a finished structure that will be displayed on the last day of camp to all Museum visitors.
